The abdomen is referred to as the Golden Court in Chinese Medicine. It is the place where we "send" aspects of our repressed emotions for storage or handling at a later date. If the Heart/Shen/Spirit is strong and vital, then we are able to process our feelings and stress without this temporary means of storage. This is not the case for most individuals. We typically carry traumas, worries, fears, anxiety, sadness, and anger not just temporarily, but often for years or entire lifetimes. Massaging the organs and their corresponding energetic pathways frees up not only the emotional layer, but also the physical blockages that cause chronic constipation, fatty liver, metabolic disorders, neuropathy, and musculoskeletal malignments by increasing blood flow, dislodging blockages, stimulating the limbic system, and facilitating lymphatic clearing.
"As an art and science, Chi Nei Tsang complements Reflexology, Psychology, Reiki, Shiatsu, Swedish Massage, and similar therapies. (Fig. 3) However, unlike most practices which use indirect methods to contact the internal organs, Chi Nei Tsang directly massages the internal organs. Chi Nei Tsang is also the most comprehensive approach to energizing, strengthening, and detoxifying the internal system. It clears out negative influences and is particularly useful in relieving intestinal blockages, cramps, knots, lumps, scar tissue, headaches, menstrual cramps, poor blood circulation, back pain, infertility, impotence, and many other problems. Along with other disciplines, Chi Nei Tsang may help to eliminate the need for surgery."
